Halt Infections and Alleviate Toothache!

Root canals often have a frightening reputation, but they are in fact a misunderstood treatment. The truth is, root canals are a highly effective method to relieve pain and preserve your tooth.

When a tooth gets infected, it's typically due to problems with the nerves in the root. These infected nerves need to be removed to avoid further complications like abscesses, which can result in tooth loss and damage to the bone.

At Uptown Burtonsville Dental Suite, we assure you of providing first-rate root canal treatment. Leveraging our state-of-the-art technology and extensive experience, we strive to make your root canal procedure as comfortable and straightforward as possible.

Improved Outcomes Through Advanced Technology

Dr. Miller uses CBCT 3D imaging to precisely evaluate your tooth's condition and create a personalized root canal treatment plan. Our team, with the help of local anesthetics and suitable pain medication, can carry out effective and long-lasting root canals, guaranteeing minimal discomfort for most patients.

The procedure for root canal

To begin with, it's important to note that your mouth will be anesthetized for the procedure, meaning you won't experience any pain during the treatment. (You may feel a slight discomfort afterwards, but it's typically very mild.) Regarding the procedure, it essentially involves creating an opening in the tooth to extract the infected pulp and bacteria. We will ensure the tooth's interior is completely cleaned before filling and sealing it.

Reasons why a root canal is needed

Usually, your tooth's pulp is well-guarded by the enamel. However, it can sometimes become inflamed or infected due to an untreated cavity or an unrepaired crack. In certain instances, the pulp may be damaged by a tooth injury, even if there are no visible signs. If pulp inflammation or infection is not treated, it can be extremely painful and may even result in tooth loss. This is why root canal therapy is frequently required.
